NEW KENT, Va. (July 25, 2026) — The South African-bred Group 1 star Gimme a Nother will look to add another prestigious victory to her accomplished résumé when she faces 11 rivals in Saturday’s Grade 2, $500,000 Beverly D. at Colonial Downs.
Scheduled as Race 10 on the 12-race card, the Beverly D. is one of three graded turf stakes on Saturday’s Festival of Racing program, joining the Grade 2 Secretariat for 3-year-olds and the Grade 1 Arlington Million on an eight-stakes card worth $2.6 million.
The Graham Motion-trained 5-year-old enters the Beverly D. off consecutive graded stakes victories in the Grade 3 Eatontown at Monmouth Park and Grade 2 John C. Mabee at Del Mar. A multiple Group 1 winner in her native South Africa, Gimme a Nother will have Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez aboard for the 1 3/16-mile turf test for older fillies and mares.
Gimme a Nother will face a deep cast that includes multiple graded stakes winners, millionaires and accomplished turf mares from some of the nation’s leading barns.
Morning-line favorite Stellify returns for trainer Brad Cox after a sensational 2025 campaign that saw the lightly raced mare win four of seven starts, including the Grade 3 Ladies Marathon which earned her a spot in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. The 5-year-old daughter of Justify banked more than $1.4 million during her breakout season. Manny Franco has the mount as Stellify makes her first start in nine months.
Pin Up Betty enters in sharp form for trainer Michael Maker after capturing the Anchorage Stakes at Churchill Downs in her most recent outing. The 5-year-old Constitution mare has earned more than $1.2 million while compiling four stakes victories, including last year’s Mint Julep Stakes (G3). Mychel Sanchez has the mount.
Way to Be Marie also arrives in top form after finishing second to Pin Up Betty in the Anchorage while posting a runner-up finish in the Keertana Stakes behind Arlington Million contender Arizona Strikes. Javier Castellano rides for trainer Eddie Kenneally.
Jose D’Angelo sends out Crevalle d’Oro, who has flourished since joining his stable. The 5-year-old daughter of Constitution captured the Suwannee River Stakes earlier this season and finished a fast-closing second in the Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf Invitational (G2). Paco Lopez has the assignment.
Others entered include Achieve, who brings a three-race winning streak into her graded stakes debut for trainer Mark Casse; Somethinabouther, third in last fall’s Grade 2 Valley View before returning to win a Churchill Downs allowance; Venencia (FR), runner-up in the Keertana Stakes after earning a career-best 105 Brisnet Speed rating; Storm Miami (IRE); Daisy Flyer; and Haute Diva.
In addition to the three graded stakes, Festival Day boasts five additional stakes: the $100,000 Reigh Count for older horses at seven furlongs on dirt; the $100,000 Petramalo Mile for 3-year-olds at one mile on dirt; the $100,000 Tyson Gilpin for 3-year-old fillies at seven furlongs on dirt; the $150,000 Van Clief for 3-year-olds and older at 5½ furlongs on turf; and the $150,000 Andy Guest, the Van Clief’s companion event for fillies and mares.
First post is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.
