The Floorboards are a four-piece American roots rock band out of Roanoke, Virginia, peddling an honest, hard-working brand of rock ‘n’ roll forged in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since coming together in 2012, they’ve built a sound that pulls rock ‘n’ roll and country traditions into something all their own – equal parts barroom grit and back-porch storytelling, music made for and by working people.

Songwriter Matt Browning anchors the band with vocals and lyrics, while Chris Blankenship answers with lead guitar that does half the storytelling on its own – by turns smoldering and incendiary, bending out aching, vocal-like melodies one moment and tearing into raw, blistering solos the next, always serving the song rather than showing off. His playing trades lines over the deep, driving pocket of the rhythm section: drummer Rob Vaughan and bassist Jake Dempsey, who lay down the kind of muscular, locked-in groove that turns these songs into a freight train live.
