The Horsemen’s Bookkeeping office no longer accepts cash deposits. Deposits can only be made in the form of a cashier’s check, certified checks, official bank issued checks or wire transfers. The Horsemen’s Bookkeeper will not pay out percentages to individual partners within a partnership; it is the responsibility of the partnership to disburse funds accordingly.

• Photo I.D. must be provided when requesting a check in-person, by phone or email.

DIRECT DEPOSIT

Direct deposit via ACH is now available through our horsemen’s bookkeeping office and is encouraged. Please email completed form to [email protected].

LIVE RACING CHECK REQUESTS

Checks are printed every Tuesday and will be available for pick-up on Wednesdays or mailed upon request.

INCOMPASS CHECK REQUESTS

Checks can also be requested online through InCompass. If you do not have access to your account, contact the bookkeeper for your account and PIN number. 

AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS

To request an ACH deposit or a check:

• A valid Virginia Racing Commission license is required.
• The current year (2025) W-9 form must be on file.

Funds will be distributed once all required documentation has been received and the account is cleared of any holds by the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC) Racing Officials.

Note: Purse payments for tested horses will not be released until testing results are finalized.

Checks are available for pick-up on Wednesdays between 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM.

Colonial Downs does not make checks to third parties.

2025 Non- Racing Season- Hours of Operation

• Monday through Friday

2025 Summer Race Meet- Hours of Operation

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday
  • 9AM until the last race
• Friday
  • 12PM until the last race

PAYMENT BREAKDOWN

OWNERS
Purse money for overnight races will be divided as follows: 60% to the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 5% to fourth, and $1,200 for fifth though last.

Purse money for stakes races, unless otherwise stated in specific race conditions, will be divided as follows: 60% to the winner, 20% to second, 11% to third, 6% to fourth, 3% to fifth, and $1,200 for sixth through last.

TRAINERS
Will receive $300 per horse started.

JOCKEYS
Purses up to $24,999: First place 10%; second place 5%; third place $150.00, other $125;
Purses $25,000 & up: first place 10%, second place 5%, third place 5%, other $125.00 (jockey checks are deducted out of owner’s account).

CLAIMING A HORSE

You must have available funds in your account (the price of the horse plus 5.3% VA sales tax).

POST RACING MEET DISBURSEMENTS

Colonial Downs does not transfer monies to accounts in other jurisdictions.
