The Road to the May 7 Kentucky Derby is in full swing now with key prep races for 3-year-old horses on tap most every weekend at tracks around the country. To celebrate this exciting time of year, Colonial Downs is offering horseplayers a free handicapping contest that includes the biggest of those prep races for $12,000 in prizes!
Virginia racing fans can “Run to the Rosie’s” and participate in a “Pick ‘Em Classic” on six different Saturdays in coming weeks to compete for weekly prizes in addition to grand prizes based on systemwide cumulative mythical bankrolls from the contests.
Participating sites include all five Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums located in Richmond, Hampton, Vinton, Dumfries and New Kent, the Rosie’s Game Room in Collinsville, and VA-Horseplay OTBs at Breakers Sports Grille in Henrico and Buckets Bar & Grill in Chesapeake.
In order to play, fans can fill out an entry form on the following Saturdays: February 26, March 5, 12 & 26, and April 2 & 9. Players will be asked to pick a horse in six different contest races and receive a mythical $2 win/place wager on each selection. Players that compile the three highest mythical bankrolls each week at each site will win $100, $60 & $40 betting vouchers respectively.
An additional slate of prizes will be awarded to players who compile the highest cumulative systemwide mythical bankrolls from each three-week period in the contest. The first series will cover the Feb. 26 – March 12 sessions while the second will cover the March 26 – April 9 sessions.
The top two from each series will receive entry into this summer’s Colonial Downs Handicapping Classic, a $500 value, while the next three finishers will win a unique VIP Day at the Races experience at the New Kent track this summer which includes lunch for four, a visit to the paddock and starting gate, a jockey meet & greet souvenir photo in the winner’s circle.
