NEW KENT, Va. (September 4, 2025)—Colonial Downs is gearing up for this Saturday’s Old Dominion Derby Day, the final premium racing day of the summer racing season, which will feature live music from Virginia’s favorite 80s tribute act, The Deloreans, as well as high-profile horses, trainers, and jockeys competing for $1.3 million in prize money.
Tickets for this premium racing event start at just $5 for General Admission (children five and under free) with limited indoor, covered, and reserved seats still remaining at www.ColonialDowns.com. Post time for the first race is noon.
“We’re excited to welcome fans to the track for the final premium racing event in our 2025 season,” said Frank Hopf, Senior Director of Racing at Colonial Downs. “It’s been an incredible season of fun and excitement at the track with great entertainment and top-tier racing featuring worldclass horses, trainers, and jockeys competing for millions in prize money. We’ve only got a few days of racing left this season, so get your tickets today and make plans to join us for the Old Dominion Derby!”
Saturday’s 10-race card will be highlighted by the Grade 3 $500,000 Old Dominion Derby featuring eight horses including World Beater, one of the nation’s top 3-year-old turf horses coming off a big win in the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby. The $150,000 Da Hoss race will feature Doncho, a four-year old who earlier this month set a world record going 5½ furlongs on turf.
Additional high-profile races will include the $250,000 Old Dominion Oaks, $150,000 Colonial Cup, $125,000 Exacta Systems Rosie’s Stakes, and $125,000 Kitten’s Joy.
Because The Race is Just the Start, live music throughout race day will be provided by The Deloreans, the ultimate 80s tribute band and a Colonial Downs returning act, and family friendly entertainment will be available around the track.
The 2025 live racing season at Colonial Downs will conclude next week with live racing from Wednesday, September 10 to Saturday, September 13.
