NEW KENT, Va. (Aug. 23, 2026) — A pair of juvenile turf stakes highlight Saturday’s card at Colonial Downs, as undefeated Cyber Spy looks to sweep the filly stakes series in the $125,000 Dolley Madison, while Fission returns to turf in the $125,000 Jamestown.

The $100,000 Camptown Handicap rounds out the feature action, with a field of 10 Virginia-restricted fillies and mares led by talented 3-year-olds Hark Theangelssing and Just Philtored.

The Dolley Madison goes as Race 3, the Jamestown as Race 7 and the Camptown as Race 8 on Saturday’s nine-race card. First post is 12:30 p.m. ET.

Gary Barber and Anthony Vinciquerra’s Cyber Spy puts her 2-for-2 record on the line against five rivals in the 5½ -furlong Dolley Madison. Trained by Mark Casse and ridden by Sonny Leon, the Virginia-bred daughter of Cyberknife has never trailed, following a maiden victory with a front-running 1¼-length score in the Aug. 2 Keswick over a muddy main track. Saturday will mark her turf debut.

Cakey, trained by Brittany Russell, enters off a neck maiden victory over the Colonial turf that earned a 78 Beyer Speed Figure. Royal Companion, who defeated Cakey by 4½ lengths in their July meeting, and Keswick runner-up Mountain Mamba are also among the leading contenders.

Awestrike Racing, GLAM Racing and Clarke Ohrstrom’s Fission returns to turf after finishing seventh as the favorite in the Aug. 2 Hickory Tree over a muddy main track. The Michael Trombetta trainee dueled for the lead before fading in a race that collapsed late. In his previous start, the Great Notion gelding led throughout to win a 5½-furlong turf maiden by 2¼ lengths.

DARRS Inc.’s homebred Harewood, trained by Brittany Russell, comes off a three-length, wire-to-wire maiden victory on the Colonial main track. Remembertheword, third in the Hickory Tree, is another stakes-tested contender in the eight-horse field.

A pair of accomplished sophomores from the Trombetta barn will face older Virginia-restricted fillies and mares in the 5½-furlong Camptown.

The Estate of R. Larry Johnson’s homebred Hark Theangelssing seeks her second stakes win of the meet after a two-length, front-running victory in the Aug. 8 Shenandoah. The multiple stakes winner has captured four of seven career starts, all on turf, and will again be ridden by Ismerio Villalobos.

Stablemate Just Philtored, owned by Red White and Blue Racing and London Reid Thoroughbreds, returns to turf after finishing third by a neck in the July 11 Miss Disco. The multiple stakes winner captured both the Keswick and Dolley Madison at Colonial as a 2-year-old and has earned more than $305,000.

Among the older runners, Eagle Point Farm’s Chickahominy enters off a runner-up finish in the Glenn Petty for trainer Karen Dennehy. The 7-year-old Great Notion mare has earned more than $214,000 and will be ridden by Sonny Leon.

Saturday’s nine-race card begins at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Nominations Published for Old Dominion Derby and Closing Day Stakes

Nominations have been published for Colonial Downs’ closing-day stakes program, with six turf stakes scheduled for Labor Day to bring the 2026 meet to a close. The card is led by the 23rd running of the Grade 3 $500,000 Old Dominion Derby, which attracted 36 nominees.

The Old Dominion Derby will be contested at 1 1/8 miles on the turf for 3-year-olds. Last year’s edition was won by multiple graded stakes winner World Beator.

The companion $250,000 Old Dominion Oaks (Listed) received 33 nominations for its 16th running. The 1 1/8-mile turf event is restricted to 3-year-old fillies.

A field of older turf runners will assemble for the fourth running of the $150,000 Colonial Cup, which drew 33 nominations. The black-type event will be contested at 1 ½ miles on the turf.

Sprinters will take center stage in the 19th running of the $150,000 Da Hoss Stakes, with 37 horses nominated to the 5½-furlong turf sprint for 3-year-olds and upward.

Two stakes for 2-year-olds complete the closing-day stakes lineup. The 17th running of the $125,000 Kitten’s Joy Stakes attracted 27 nominees for the 1 1/16-mile turf event.

The fourth running of the $125,000 Exacta Systems Rosie’s Stakes received 36 nominations. The black-type event is a 5½-furlong turf sprint for 2-year-olds.

Nominations for the closing-day stakes program closed this week, setting the stage for the final major afternoon of the 2026 Colonial Downs meet.
